Tommy Hilfiger and Zendaya made people groove at Apollo Theatre as they displayed their collection. With an ode to the 70s era and African-American community, the duo transformed the runway to a disco ball. Much like their collection, the energy in this show was to a whole new level. There was a live band, models dancing and performing on the runway and a full on party vibe. The decor was of a 70s street and two convertible cars around which the models danced.
The cast of the models included a wide range of ages, sizes and colour. The highlight of the show was pregnant Ashley Graham setting fire on the runway. Also, a lot of other stars like Winnie Harlow, Halima Aden, Precious Lee, Candice Swanepole and Ebonee Davis were spotted.
And as the whole vibe was of the 70s, a lot of suits, skirts, shirts and outerwear made from leather, mixed and matched with jewel-tone velvets and a pop of snake print were to be seen. Zendaya, herself wore snake-print pants and blazer from the same collection with snake print shoes and a white vest.
Sadly, this was the last collab of Zendaya and Tommy Hilfiger. The designer reflected his thoughts in the show notes: “This evening also marks the end of my two-season collaboration with Zendaya and image architect, Law Roach. With redefined power dressing at its core, the collection’s bold tailored pieces are infused with a modern twist that celebrate the strength that comes from fearlessly being your true self. We didn’t want to hold anything back tonight, with Zendaya’s vision, dedication and strong voice bringing a unique edge to our collaboration. She has an important message to tell, and sharing our platform to express her creativity has been an honor.”
